Job summary

We are currently recruiting Pharmacy Dispensers and welcome applications on a full and part-time basis.

You will join our rotational team largely in Sunderland Royal Hospital but able to work across our three Pharmacies and support our manufacturing teams. Our Inpatient Pharmacy supplies pharmaceutical items towards and departments across our various sites and also supports the Medicine Management Team. Our

Outpatient Pharmacy dispenses prescriptions to patients attending outpatient clinics within the three outpatientsites operated by our dispensing partner CHoICE. Our Manufacturing team aseptically prepare medicines forindividual patients.

This is therefore an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality patient care whilst working with an excellent andexperienced team committed to its effective delivery. We support the development of staff and therefore this isa great opportunity for a Dispenser who may wish to embrace a different challenge to further develop their career within our Pharmacy Department, with the opportunity for further career progression within the Service.

It is essential that you have NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and have some experience of working in abusy Pharmacy. Training in manufacturing can be provided for those with a community pharmacybackground. Accredited-checking is desirable but not essential, as training will be given.

Main duties of the job

You will have achieved NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services and will be expected to undertake an accredited-checking course after six months in Post.

The Post is rotational including South Tyneside and Sunderland Outpatient Pharmacies.

This role operates across a shift pattern which includes Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00, weekend working 10:00 to 18:00 and late shifts 11:30 to 20:00 / 09:30 to 18:00. You will be expected to participate in late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas.

You should be adaptable, methodical and have excellent communication and time-keeping skills. You must be able to work well within the Team and also have the ability to work on your own initiative to deliver excellent patient care.

We work in conjunction with the Pharmacy Education Team and we assist with training of new staff which you would be expected to undertake.
