Job summary
We
are seeking an excellent practitioner (registered nurse/learning disability
nurse/professionally registered AHP) to join our hospital-based learning
disability and autism liaison team in a Clinical Educator role. We are looking
for someone with a keen interest, relevant knowledge and experience who is an excellent
communicator and is ready to take on a training role. The Clinical Educator
role is a new, full-time, 12-month fixed term post. We will consider secondment
opportunities and will be evaluating the model to measure the impact of this
role. With the experienced liaison team, you will support Learning disability
and Autism training across the STSFT workforce. You will share good practice,
promote Learning disability & Autism pathways, develop and deliver bespoke
packages of training to ward staff. You will support service development
initiatives through delivering education and training for the workforce. The
Learning Disability and Autism Acute Liaison Team are committed to reducing
health inequalities through facilitating and promoting high quality, holistic
healthcare for people who have a learning disability and/or autism. We support
a person-centred experience of healthcare services for our patients who have a
learning disability and/or autism across the acute hospitals in the Trust. This
is an exciting time to be part of our dynamic team, working towards improving
the health outcomes of the people in our area who have a Learning Disability or
are Autistic.
Main duties of the job
To work within the acute Trust to provide education and
training on the needs of people who have a learning disability and/or autism
when they are accessing acute settings.
To develop training packages suitable for a range of
professional groups.
To deliver training in several different ways according to
the needs of the workforce.
To work with ward managers and departmental managers to
raise awareness of pathways and policies to facilitate equitable access to
healthcare for this population group.
To promote the need for reasonable adjustments for this
patient group across the acute trust, to assess individuals needs for
person-centred reasonable adjustments and provide guidance and education to
facilitate these.
To be an expert practitioner who can support colleagues and
acute hospital staff to meet the additional needs of our patients in innovative
ways.
The post holder will work within the hospital-based
learning disability and autism liaison team to develop the knowledge of the
workforce within the Trust.

with the team to identify need, develop and facilitate workforce education across
the acute trust sites.
The post holder may be required to work directly
with patients and their carers to support the teams capacity when this is
needed.
The post-holder will provide Learning
disability/Autism healthcare specific knowledge as part of the MDT.
The post holder will engage, enable
and empower others across the acute trust services to establish high-quality,
compassionate, person-centred healthcare for our patients who have a learning
disability or are Autistic.
The post holder will be required to evaluate consistently
to measure the impact of educational programmes and disseminate the results in
a clear way.
