Job summary
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, committed, flexible and solution-focused individual to
join our clinical education team. This is a great opportunity for you to share
and develop your skills in delivering education to meet the continuing
professional development needs of the cancer workforce, to ensure staff have
the confidence, skills and expertise to provide excellent high quality care for
cancer patients.
This post requires you to
share your clinical experience, skills and knowledge, and support the
development of all staff in the delivery of core skills in cancer care in a
variety of settings across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the trust's
education team, the post holder will:
Work with health
professionals across all disciplines at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS
Foundation Trust, to train and educate individuals and teams, to deliver
excellence in cancer care and support
Develop and
deliver a portfolio of education in cancer care and support for our staff that
provide care for cancer patients
Support the cancer workforce to identify their training needs and
learning opportunities, in accordance with national guidance and frameworks
Ensure training and education
resources are available and disseminated using innovative platforms and
techniques, utilising digital resources where possible to promote
sustainability of cancer education delivery.
Lead, plan and support audit
activity to inform targeted education and training to support future content
and delivery of cancer education
Facilitate the trusts current cancer
educational programmes, to ensure all training requirements are met in
accordance with the programme aims.
Engage with clinicians and wider
stakeholders to facilitate specialist and targeted education for Cancer Nurse
Specialists.
Support the future development of
cancer education and training, working alongside the education team and cancer
services, identifying and negotiating opportunities for partnership working
with external bodies including:

Undertake a Training Needs Analysis across the

Develop appropriate competency-based clinical
skills education and develop relevant competency assessment documents for

Group or Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Group.
To provide a nursing lead on cancer education
initiatives
Influence change and development of practice,
utilising the most recent evidence base.
To improve the delivery and quality of services
provided within the cancer care environment, through utilisation of a core
cancer skills and capabilities framework.
Contribute to the performance review of cancer
nursing staff.
Develop and sustain innovative flexible blended
learning opportunities which support staff to attain approved competencies
which are both cost and time effective.
Ensure training and education resources are
available and disseminated using innovative platforms and techniques, utilising
digital resources where possible to promote sustainability of cancer education
delivery.
Lead, plan and support audit activity to inform
targeted education and training to support future content and delivery
Maintain discipline within the clinical area,

Implementation of evaluation audits to measure
the impact of educational programmes and disseminate the results.
To deliver a competency-based induction, where
appropriate, for new members of the cancer workforce across all relevant
directorates.
Facilitate the provision of Clinical Supervision
across the cancer nursing workforce, ensuring this is a support mechanism
available to all staff and which is embedded in practice.
Identify areas of good practice and provide
opportunities for staff to share this across the organisation.
