Job summary
A
new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Decontamination Lead within South
Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Trust working across the acute sites and community
sectors.
The
post holder will be required to act as professional lead for Decontamination
for the Trust, providing expert advice on decontamination issues as required,
working with colleagues, multi-disciplinary teams such as IPC, FM services,
Clinical Teams and CSSD. You will also look to improve systems and processes to
ensure they are responsive to service needs, thus streamlining processes and
minimising risk.
The
postholder will be the link between the aforementioned teams to provide
assurance on decontamination services to senior management. This will involve links to cleaning,
decontamination and sterilisation services and involvement with JAG
accreditation.
A

Main duties of the job
The
main duties of the Decontamination Lead will include:

Responsibility for ensuring that the decontamination programme is
implanted in relation to the organisation, and it takes account of relevant
national guidelines.

Responsibility for the management and strategic development of
decontamination services across the Trust.

Lead the development and implementation of the Trusts
Decontamination Policy to support infection prevention and control and patient
safety.

Act as Decontamination Lead Assessor for the Trust, including
setting up and undertaking a programme of local decontamination reviews.

Act as The User and Surgical Instrument Manager as defined in
HTM-01, Part A Management and Provision.

Act as responsible person for regulatory compliance as per Medical
Device regulations.

To ensure delivery of quality and timely decontamination services
to all internal and external customers, ensure compliance statutory legislation
and external guidance, and delivery of Trust strategic objectives and national
targets.

To be accountable for implementation of Decontamination Code of
Practice across the Trust.
