Job summary

Could you be our next PR and Social Media Assistant? We are looking for a creative individual to join our award-winning communications and engagement team and help deliver our digital and social media strategy. You will play a key role supporting the planning, delivery and evaluation of PR activity. This includes responsibility for recording and editing interview content for our award-winning People Podcast. You will report to our Media and PR Manager and your work will be focussed on building our STSFT brand and reputation using various tools and channels

Main duties of the job

Overall job purpose / dimensions:

Sourcing, recording and editing interview content for the Trusts People Podcast

Helping to plan and manage digital activity, with a particular focus on external social media engagement and website content management

Drafting materials such as social media / digital content and writing / editing communications such as press releases and newsletters

  • Daily management of all external social media channels including planning a proactive daily schedule of activity and responding to interactions (liaising internally with various teams and departments as necessary)
  • Supporting the team to respond to daily internal and external enquiries (including media) in relation to all aspects of Trust business

Monitoring media coverage, social media engagement and compiling data analysis / feedback reports for the Director of Communications

Maintaining effective distribution lists and contact databases to manage stakeholder relationships and keeping logs of enquiries

Supporting the team in planning and delivering a wide range of internal and external events and activities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good command of English language both written and spoken.
  • GCSE Level or equivalent standard.
  • Level 4 qualification in relevant subject i.e. public relations / marketing theory (or working towards).

Desirable

  • Member of professional body.

Experience

Essential

  • Proficient in the use of digital tools, video production, social media, apps and online platforms.
  • Experienced in the use of content management systems to update and maintain websites.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint etc).
  • Ability to film video content and edit on basic packages such as iMovie.
  • Experience working within a communications environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of social media management.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the Trust and local health system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate confidence, initiative, good judgment.
  • Ability to plan and manage a number of engagement and communications activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills and initiative to troubleshoot and problem solve when responding to enquiries.
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus to ensure accurate record keeping of engagement activities.

Physical Skills

Essential

  • Willing and able to work outside of normal working hours as required during periods of peak activity.
  • Required to physically lift, put up and move display boards, carry boxes of publications and other materials for engagement activities and events on a regular basis.
  • Requires ability to attend multiple locations across South Tyneside, Sunderland and part of North and East Durham.

Desirable

  • Full clean driving license and own car.
