ICT Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

As part of an expanding team, a position has arisen for an ICT Infrastructure Engineer within the End User Computing team.

The successful candidate will work within a small team of specialist engineers to help support, maintain, manage, develop and deliver the Trusts End User Computing infrastructure and related systems.

You will play a key part in helping to support these important systems and be instrumental in ensuring that our Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, system imaging, software distribution and operating system/application patching systems work efficiently; as well as ensuring that our client computing equipment and mobile devices are managed effectively. You will gain exposure to a range of other technologies and solutions, including, network and server technologies, incident and problem management, service monitoring and will be involved in a range of broader ICT infrastructure projects.

We are looking for an experienced and hard-working professional with significant experience in relevant technologies and concepts.

Working knowledge and experience of the following would be advantageous:

Microsoft client operating systems,

Microsoft Group Policy,

VMWare Horizon,

Microsoft Intune,

Quest KACE systems management solutions.

The role will cover all of the Trusts main sites and community facilities, so the applicant must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide support activities in line with department's operating procedures, ensuring the smooth running of the Trusts ICT infrastructure.

To be responsible for maintaining the Trusts ICT Infrastructure, ensuring that facilities are available, reliable and performing as expected.

This role will periodically be required to work alongside Engineers from other ICT Infrastructure and Technical Support teams, other local Trusts, and external suppliers to ensure that the underlying IT Infrastructure is maintained and available.

The nature of the post will mean that some activities will require work outside of normal office hours.

To investigate and document technical requirements and perform technical feasibility studies in support of those requirements.

The post holder will network with technical staff in other NHS organisations and will also represent the Trust at regional and national events.
