Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, customer focused individual to join our dedicated and successful team. You will provide administrative support and process information in accordance with department business processes, deal with queries from internal and external customers on matters relating to employment terms and conditions and recruitment, plus maintaining and updating records in ESR and other department systems.

The successful candidate will have effective written and verbal communication skills, in order to understand and explain information (sometimes complex and/or sensitive) to managers, staff and clients and be able to understand, calculate and articulate numerical solutions.

Applicants also must:

  • Hold a NVQ 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject or possess NVQ 2 or equivalent with extensive office experience and the willingness to undertake level 3 study in this role
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and information governance requirements
  • Have a basic knowledge and understanding of employment best practice and legislation

The post also requires you to have had previous experience of working in an administrative role - working in a busy team providing a service to internal and external customers. As well as experience of working with internal / external departments / agencies, discussing and resolving issues.

Main duties of the job

The Human Resources and Organisational Development Directorate delivers a wide range of HR transactional services to South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, plus two Subsidiary Companies, and our Recruitment Services Team is at the centre of ensuring the very best staff are recruited to deliver high quality care to our patients / service users.

Main duties of the role will include:

  • To support Trust and Subsidiary Company recruitment campaigns advertising all vacancies via NHS Jobs / ESR interface and if required other external websites and / or publications.
  • Support other HR processes as and when required.
  • Ensure that all recruitment / engagement of individuals are processed in accordance with NHS Employment Check Standards.
  • Deal with recruitment related queries from customers both internally and externally, seeking advice and guidance from the Assistant Recruitment Services Manager as appropriate.
  • Provide support for retrospective DBS programme, agency worker bookings and honorary contract (including research) requests as and when required.
