This
is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in tackling health
inequalities across the North East and North Cumbria. You will be joining a new
team hosted by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) but
working across the whole region.
The
North East and North Cumbria has committed to placing health literacy at the
heart of its work to tackle health inequalities. You will be responsible for contributing
to this large, diverse and innovative programme of work. Working with a wide
range of stakeholders including NHS staff, local authorities, the voluntary
sector, researchers and local communities you will be responsible for supporting
an ambitious work plan across a large area.
This role would suit
someone who is passionate about fairness and tackling health inequalities. You
should be highly motivated and enjoy working in a changing environment with
multiple partners. You will be supported by a team at STSFT and a large network
across the region. This is a new role offering the chance to make a positive
difference for communities in the North East and North Cumbria.
Main duties of the job
You
will support the work programme and be responsible for the co-ordination of its
delivery. Working alongside the Health Literacy Strategic Manager and a core
team of staff you will be based within STSFT but working across the whole
region.
It is
essential that candidates have expertise and practical experience of delivering
health literacy interventions to apply for this role. In addition, you should
have experience of working to tackle health inequalities and be committed to
the principles of fairness and social justice. Experience of working on large
scale projects and delivering to deadlines is important.
You must
be well organised and adaptable to manage the different aspects of this role
and have previous experience working in a complex system with a range of
stakeholders.
It is
expected that you will be a champion of health literacy principles. You will
also be expected to support others in the wider team and build string
relationships across the North East and North Cumbria.
Flexible
working is supported and you will be joining a new team but be well supported
by colleagues within STSFT and across the region. Professional development will
be supported and encouraged.
