Job summary

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Financial Management team

The role will focus upon Financial Management financial analysis, reporting and monthly reconciliation of income and expenditure. Assisting the Management Accountant in resolving queries, financial reports, financial returns and other adhoc duties.

Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Management Accountant you will provide necessary support to the financial management team to ensure the provision of high quality financial advice as well as business support to divisions. Part of the role will be to use a computerised ledger system and Microsoft office packages, this is to provide analysis to department managers and budget holders.

The role is based at Sunderland Royal hospital with hybrid home working arrangements in place and the working hours are Monday to Friday. You will work within a well-established team including other Assistant Management Accountants to ensure deadlines are met and a high level of service is delivered. Flexible working is supported.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

AAT part-qualified or equivalent, or actively studying towards full AAT qualification, or with significant role experience.

Experience in finance preferably in the NHS.

Experience of assisting in the production of income and/or expenditure annual budgets and monthly management reports.

Experience of spreadsheet, database and computerised ledger applications, preferably Oracle Financials.

Knowledge of the NHS financial regime and relevant legislation and guidance.

Analytical and Judgemental Skills

Able to undertake initial investigation and resolution of expenditure variances within area of responsibility

Able to analyse and manipulate large volumes of complex data into meaningful information and produce summaries for review by the Management Accountant
