Job summary
An exciting opportunity has
arisen for a Chaplain to join the Trusts Chaplaincy Team to work across the
Trust. We are looking for an individual
who is able to understand and demonstrate compassion when encountering other
people.
The successful candidate will
demonstrate a creative approach to working as part of a multi-faith team, which
includes a willingness to undertake an on-call commitment.
The role is demanding and the
successful candidate will need to be emotionally intelligent and able to work
within boundaries so as to be able to manage difficult situations whilst acting
as a reflective practitioner. Travel to
Community Sites is an essential part of the role.
The post holder will be
accountable to the Lead Chaplain. The
post is for 22.5 hours with flexibility of how these hours are worked across
the Trust. Having said this, business
needs of the Trust will be given priority.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated multi faith Chaplain who shares our passion for providing excellence in spiritual, religious and pastoral care to patients, relatives, volunteers and members of staff.
We wish to appoint someone who is able to work flexibly and creatively as part of our multi faith team. You will already have a proven record of substantial pastoral experience and demonstrable practical spiritual care team working skills in a multi-faith environment. Previous experience of healthcare chaplaincy is essential.

To meet the Spiritual and Pastoral care of
patients, relatives and staff.
To
work as part of an ecumenical, multi-faith Chaplaincy team, identifying, assessing,
and appropriately responding to pastoral, spiritual, emotional, cultural,
and/or religious needs of patients, their families, carers, and staff.
To be open to and supportive of the spiritual
and ethical concerns of staff arising from their work.
Take
part in a 7 day week out-of-hours on-call chaplaincy service if the service
requires.
Adhere
to all relevant service and professional standards including NHS England NHS
Chaplaincy Guidelines and the United Kingdom Board for Healthcare Chaplaincy [UKBHC]
Standards for Healthcare Chaplaincy Services.
Have
a sensitivity and openness which is accepting of people from a great variety of
religious and non-religious traditions and beliefs.
Work
in an inclusive non-discriminatory manner within care offered by chaplaincy
staff and volunteers that is inclusive and open to all.
To
facilitate the worship of those of all faiths according to their own tradition
and the availability of the chapels and prayer spaces.
To
work within the Trust protocols and procedures and to remain abreast and be
proactive of all relevant policies and procedures in regard to chaplaincy.
To
develop and provide education and training in accordance with the role.
In
the case of bereavement, to maintain close links with internal and external
staff and support the facilitation of funerals for infants and those dying in
the hospitals when the hospital takes responsibility for the funeral.
Deputise for the lead chaplain as and when required.
Attend
Trust meetings as required.
Be conversant with the use of computer systems and with regard to
recording information, maintain confidential records of referrals and
significant visits involving patients, staff and others using the service
within the provision of the Data Protection Act and Trust policy.
To maintain appropriate records of services conducted by members
of the chaplaincy team.
Accept responsibility to operate the department within guidance
from NHS England, Trust policies and procedures, the standards laid down by the
UK Board for Health Care Chaplains along with the religious faith or non-faith
body to which they belong.
To meet
the Standards for Hospice & Palliative Care Chaplaincy (AHPCC, 2006)
Organise
events, services and ceremonies.

- Professional qualification in theology, ministry, social work, community work or related fields, or equivalent.
- Ordained/Licenced Priest, Deacon, Minister, or pastoral carer in good standing with their ecclesiastical authority or equivalent community organisation.

Desirable
