Job summary

Do you have prior customer services experience or experience of working in care (paid or unpaid) and a desire to work with our teams in delivering high quality, safe and effective patient care?

If so, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) are looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals who can work in busy, high-pressured and sometimes challenging clinical environments in the community setting.

We are looking to appoint 2 Health Care Assistants to work with our diagnostic team based at Riverview health centre. The role involves working alone, visiting patients in their own home to carry out predominantly blood tests and other diagnostics. The core hours of work are 08:30 - 17:00 Mon Fri however there may be a requirement to work extended hours / weekends dependent on service demands. You may also be required to carry out other HCA roles within the team. You must be a car driver and have access to a vehicle.

Training will be available and candidates will be supported with an induction and a personal development plan. Full support will be given to those without community experience to gain the necessary skills required.

You must also be able to meet the travel requirements of the post and be a car owner and driver.

Main duties of the job

Community Nurses are required to provide a range of skilled, holistic nursing care to patients in their own homes in various localities across Sunderland. You will work within a Community Integrated Team consisting of District Nursing Staff, Community Practitioners, Social Services and third sector organisations. You will work under the direction / supervision of a registered nurse delivering high quality nursing care to patients within the community setting including residential homes.
