Job summary
A vacancy
has arisen for a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry to work across multiple
sites covering South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead. This is an exciting
opportunity for someone to apply their specialist dental knowledge and skills in the provision of comprehensive oral care for patients with
complex special needs, including treatment under sedation and general
anaesthesia.
Duties will include the
provision of high quality dental care for special care patients referred to the
service
Working within a large and supportive
dental team, the post holder will provide clinical leadership in special care
dentistry as well as support to, and training and mentoring of staff. They will
contribute to the strategic direction of the service.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will work 8 sessions per week and be expected to meet the
competencies for a Band C dentist SCD.
You must be fully
registered with the UK General Dental Council as a Specialist in Special Care
Dentistry, eligible for the National Dental Performers List without
restrictions and have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of
practice.
You
will be able to demonstrate extensive clinical experience, leadership skills
and have evidence in a portfolio of continuing
professional development.
You must also have excellent communication
skills, and be sensitive to the needs of relevant patient groups. Sharing
expertise through supporting and mentoring colleagues you will help drive the
special care service forward.
