Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to become a Technical Assistant at Gateshead Equipment Service undertaking a broad range of duties associated with the provision of community loan equipment to residents of Gateshead, including delivery, fitting, repairs, maintenance, assessments, training, and de-commissioning equipment.

Gateshead Equipment service is a central provider of a wide range of community loan equipment and wheelchairs to support patients in maintaining their personal independence, safety and mobility.

We are looking for a customer focused enthusiastic technical operative who will provide deliveries and installation of loan equipment to patients across Gateshead and surrounding areas. You will have experience of multi drop operations and experience in the assembly of furniture / equipment is desirable. You will also have experience of repairs and maintenance of equipment and be willing to train to PAT test electrical equipment and LOLER test lifting equipment. You will be able to work on your own initiative & also support the wider warehouse and decontamination team where necessary.

You will also be required to undertake out of hours on call on a rotational basis including evening & weekends.

Main duties of the job

You will have:

  • Experience of undertaking,prioritising workload and being able to multitask.
  • Experience of using electronic patient records / electronic ordering systems.
  • Experience of multi drop deliveries / warehouse or logistics operations including allocation of deliveries / or working in health and social care sector.
  • Experience of decontamination of equipment.
  • Knowledge of undertaking planned and reactive repairs/maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, risk assessments, COSHH, LOLER and PAT assessment process.
  • Experience of working in a similar role with at least 2 years experience in a repair/maintenance environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience of working across the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working unsociable hours / on call.
  • Must hold a full driving licence.

This is a full-time post 37.5 hrs based at Team Valley Gateshead.
