Job summary

South Tyneside Lifecycle Service and Gateshead Talking Therapies are award winning IAPT services and among the highest performing IAPT services at both regional and national level. There is recognition that staff can realise their potential through effective clinical and management supervision, managerial support, and through access to internal and external training. Staff development and their wellbeing are accepted as a vital priority and we have a long established Wellbeing Strategy Group which develops wellbeing initiatives for the service. You will provide interventions to support members of the South Tyneside or Gateshead Community in accessing employment, remaining in employment, and seeking meaningful activity.

Main duties of the job

The Employment Advisor will have:

• The post holder will be part of the South Tyneside Lifecycle Service or Gateshead Talking Therapies, which incorporates Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and primary care Childrens Services.
• To work with clients that are unemployed and/or have challenges with their current employment. To encourage them to recognise the importance of productive work to good mental health and to help them plan a route into meaningful activity and employment.
• To work with Employers, Education and Training services, Employment Support Services and Third Sector Organisations to identify support mechanisms for people with a mental health problem who are seeking employment.
• To have an understanding of Common Mental Health Problems and their impact on social functioning and physical health
• To promote the service through work with employment and training agencies.
• To assist with the collection of data and service KPIs.
• Post holders will have a First Level professional qualification RGN, RMN, RMHN, Allied Health Professional (AHP), Social worker, (Dip SW/CQSW), or Accredited Counsellor, or Degree level qualification equivalent.
• Experience of working to support the mental health needs of people with employment related issues
• Experience of working within a primary care setting
