Job summary

We have an exciting post as PWP delivering treatment to people who are referred to the service who have common mental health problems. You must hold a post graduate certificate in low intensity therapy or evidence of passing the post graduate low intensity therapy training. The PWP post will be part of South Tyneside Primary Care Mental Health Lifecycle Service, which incorporates Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). You will deliver interventions as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) model. The post holder will have experience of providing psychological therapies with adults in primary care using NICE low intensity treatment interventions such as low intensity CBT, Supported Self Help and psycho educational groups.

PWPs will be expected to have

  • A commitment to a holistic model of mental health and working with partners to address client need.
  • Experience of working with people who experience mental health problems especially depression and anxiety.
  • Skills in assessment and interventions for clients and consultation and supervision with primary care colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You must have:

  • A post graduate certificate in low intensity therapy or evidence of passing the post graduate low intensity training course.
  • Experience of working to support the mental health needs of adults in primary care.
  • Comprehensive mental health assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to offer advice to a broad range of professionals and work co-operatively to deliver joint interventions with a range of providers.
  • You will be expected to work independently and as part of a highly skilled and experienced team.

You will be expected to deliver interventions in a developing primary care setting and play a full part in the effective development and operation of the whole of the service.

Attendance at regular supervision is an important aspect of the work of the service.
