Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an experienced receptionist to provide a comprehensive reception and administration service to patients, visitors and staff at St Benedicts Hospice and Centre for Specialist Care.
The post holder will provide a welcoming first point of contact for all patients and visitors to St Benedicts Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative Care and will greet visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
The post holder will:
- Input internal and external referrals and information onto patient information system(s). Provide clerical support including collection and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, general typing, filing, photocopying, ordering patient menus.
- To complete patient admission checklist upon arrival to the ward, ensuring patient file is created and updated and patient wristband is issued.
- Ordering of ambulances, patient transport, hospice transport/taxi as required updating system accordingly.
- Updating team office communication boards.
- To complete patient property form and arrange collection of patient property with the necessary relative.
- Liaising with various other departments and agencies eg. Estates department, supplies department, the medical examiners office and funeral directors.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the admin team at St Benedicts Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative care.
Applicants should be educated to a good standard of general education including GCSE English and Maths. Applicants should have Level 2 in Word processing or Business Administration or recent experience in a receptionist/administration role in a healthcare setting.
Applicants should have knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and EMIS system and/or Hospital Information System (Meditech). An understanding of palliative care and medical terminology is desirable.
It is essential you have good written and verbal communication skills, good organisational and time management skills and have the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure to meet deadlines. You will be expected to adhere to confidentiality and data protection guidelines.
Work Pattern (8 hours per week)
Saturday 4 pm 8 pm (4 hours)
Sunday 4 pm 8 pm (4 hours)
