Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry to work across multiple sites covering South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to apply their specialist dental knowledge and skills in the provision of comprehensive oral care for children with complex special needs, including treatment under sedation and general anaesthesia.

Duties will include the provision of high quality dental care for special care patients referred to the service

Working within a large and supportive dental team, the post holder will provide clinical leadership in paediatric dentistry as well as support to, and training and mentoring of staff. They will contribute to the strategic direction of the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work 8 sessions per week and be expected to meet the competencies for a Band C dentist Paediatric Dentistry.

You must be fully registered with the UK General Dental Council as a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry, eligible for the National Dental Performers List without restrictions and have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of practice.

You will be able to demonstrate extensive clinical experience, leadership skills and have evidence in a portfolio of continuing professional development.

You must also have excellent communication skills, and be sensitive to the needs of relevant patient groups. Sharing expertise through supporting and mentoring colleagues you will help drive the paediatric service forward.
