Our HCSWs are invaluable to the trust and play an integral role in the wards and departmental teams. The role of a HCSW can be challenging but overall rewarding. Working alongside likeminded people, our teams are caring, compassionate and inclusive. We believe in "growing our own" and support progression pathways to staff nurse training applications.

This post is being advertised as a Band 3.Howeverapplicants that do not meet the requiredCareCertificate competencies will initially be employed as a Band 2. Applicants who hold a care certificate accreditation will start in post at Band 3.

Main duties of the job

Currently there are full time and part time hours on offer. We are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week - therefore, we require everyone to befullyflexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.

To work as an effective member of the team under the supervision and direction of a registered health care professional, providing dignified, compassionate and safe care for patients and ensuring high standards ofdocumentation are maintained.

To undertake all duties listed however these duties will vary from speciality to speciality in some cases this could include working with children and young people right through to older people. No duties should be undertaken unless appropriate training or induction has taken place in accordance with trust policies.

As part of the selection process you will be required to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment alongside an interview.

Base Locations: Poole and Royal Bournemouth Hospital

PLEASE NOTE: Most wards are due to relocate to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Spring 2026 - see below for more details.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Spring 2026, when this role and base of work will relocate to Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
