Healthcare Support Worker -Ophthalmology Macula

Job summary

The Eye Outpatient and Macula Unit offers a full range of care for Ophthalmology patients across Dorset and Hampshire. We are looking for a highly motivated HCA looking to specialise in Ophthalmology to join our Team.

In the role you will assist in providing the best possible care to patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions , you will also be working on our Eye Day Surgery Unit where we provide pre and post operative care for planned and emergency Ophthalmic procedures.

  • Understanding of basic physiology e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements etc.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood)
  • Ability to follow clear instruction and feed back to senior staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
  • IT literate

Desirable

  • Experience with assisting with Visual Field Eye Tests
  • Venepuncture and cannulation

Knowledge

  • An understanding of basic patient care

  • Knowledge of care related procedures and observations
