Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in our integrated paediatric Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team.

Main duties of the job

The post is for clinical assessment and intervention for children with neuro developmental and motor skills difficulties. You will have the opportunity to work with children aged 0 - 19 years in a variety of settings, including; the Child Development Centre with some community visits to schools and nurseries. Travel will be required across UHD sites to deliver services.

It would be an advantage to have experience in sensory processing dysfunction and neuro developmental therapy techniques and of working with children.

We work closely with the multi-disciplinary paediatric team and colleagues working in social care, health and education services. We are committed to delivering high quality services for the children and families we work with.

  • To be part of a team of therapists providing Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment, treatment and advice services to children, 0-19 years and their parents/carers covering Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset.
  • To be responsible for the clinical supervision and development of other members of the Childrens Therapy Team and to be a clinical educator for undergraduate students.
  • To demonstrate an appropriate level of evidence-based expertise in the assessment and treatment of a paediatric caseload, for children of all ages with neuro-developmental and other conditions affecting function.
  • To provide advice and liaise with other professionals (e.g. consultants, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists) and disciplines (e.g. the community nursing team, Learning Disability Team, Occupational Therapists working in Social Care and Health, Education Staff etc.), as well as networking with Occupational Therapists in other departments and NHS Trusts.
  • To participate in continued professional development to support the operational management and development of the Paediatric Therapy Service.
  • To provide training to colleagues, multi-disciplinary team and staff working in educational settings.
