Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset have an exciting opportunity to be a Staff Nurse as part of a small team providing support for Interventional Radiology patients in a newly created day care unit based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high standard of quality care and patient experience without direct supervision across the IR day care unit.
  • To practice autonomously (within the requirements of UHD and the NMC code of practice) and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.
  • Take charge of the unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff on a shift basis.
  • To assist in the management and organisation of the IR Day Case Unit.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the on-going professional development of registered staff.
  • To support the Trust strategy of delivering a quality healthcare service for patients and their families.
  • To work within and to support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.
