Job summary

The Pre-operative Assessment Unit is currently looking to recruit a proactive and patient-centred Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work across site (Bournemouth Hospital & Poole Hospital). However the main site for the successful candidate will be Poole Hospital.

Base Location: Poole Hospital

Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a healthcare role

Desirable

  • Experience working with the public

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational level 3

Desirable

  • GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent at grade C or above

Technical Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • IT and PC competency
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including proven listening and communication skills
  • Flexibility/adaptability to be able to work shifts to cover service needs
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Able to use initiative
  • Perform ECG
  • Perform physiological observations

  • Venepuncture

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the role of pre-operative assessment in relation to patient care
  • Understanding of infection control measures
