Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 3 month secondment/fixed term within the Upper GI team in Poole hospital. You will have the opportunity to work alongside the current Band 7 and other members of the multi professional team within Cancer Care to provide a comprehensive, evidence based patient centred service for patients going through a diagnosis .
This role is to work on the Poole hospital site for 30 hours.
This role requires NMC Registration.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of this job include:
- will be actively involved in the diagnosis, arranging timeliness of investigations, clinicappointments, treatment and follow up of patients with an upper GI cancer, providingcontinuity of care and improving quality of life for this patient group.
- will provide information, advice and psychological support to patients, their families and staff, liaising and referring on as necessary to appropriate health care professionals in hospital and community.
- will demonstrate a fundamental level of specialist knowledge of upper GI cancer, the disease, treatments and symptom management, remaining up to date with all relevant developments in these areas.
- will support the Band 7 and deputise in their absence at meetings within the Department and at Network level.
- will provide nurse-led follow up support for patients after diagnosis and during treatments.
- will act as a resource and provide education and training for patients and Health care professionals.
- will monitor and evaluate established standard of care provided to patients with an upper GI cancer in line with National and Network Cancer Guidelines

Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
