Job description

Job responsibilities

1.To support the Department in providing an efficient administrative service

2.Have daily tasks to perform and arrange work around these to meet deadlines

3.To deal with telephone enquiries in an appropriate manner

4.Maintain confidentiality at all times. Deal with confidential sensitive information about patients

5.Adhere to departmental policies and procedure

6.Undertake appropriate mandatory training as required

7.Data entry on departmental computer system

8.Type reports (if required)

9.Use hospital computer system to access patient details.

10.Be responsible for out-going post, meeting afternoon deadline and mail sorting

11. Collate clinical cases for submission to clinical trials

12. Identify / log errors / raise an incident form

13. Participate in office related audits

14. MDT involvement

15. Remove slides and blocks from archive as required.

16. Dealing with external slide requests from other hospitals

17. Participate in department meetings, discussion groups and updates

18. Participate in appraisal system

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good General Education covering literacy and numeracy
  • Keyboard skills - RSAII or equivalent touch typing / computer skills

Desirable

  • Attended medical terminology course
  • Experience of data entry

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience in medical environment/medical audio typing
  • Computer keyboard skills including Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • Attended medical terminology course
  • Computer keyboard skills including Microsoft Excel

Technical

Essential

  • Ability to organise own workload and priorities
  • Competent in use of multiple computer systems and national databases
  • Capable of working effectively either independently, or as part of a team
  • Work flexibly in response to changing circumstances.

  • High degree of accuracy in all work
