Main duties of the job

As a bank worker, you will be called upon to spend a significant part providing 1-2-1 care covering all aspects focusing on safety for both patients and staff as well as therapeutic intervention. You will also work as part of the wider team supporting colleagues and other healthcare professional when requested to do so.

The post holder will provide outstanding enhanced care to patientsneeding additional nursing and emotional support in a high stressenvironment. This patient group may include but is not limited to:o Mental illnesso Dementiao Deliriumo Intoxicationo Traumatic Brain Injuryo Encephalitiso Parkinson'so Specific neurological diseaseo Brain Tumours

You are required to complete a full two weeks training (Monday -Friday , 08.30 - 16.00) at either Bournemouth or Poole Hospital.

Breakaway (with safehold) training will be provided to successful candidates and is a condition of the bank agreement. As a 7 day service, we ensure peer support for bank workers. The offer of bank shifts is primarily at short notice for varied shift patterns.

Qualifications

Essential

Good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy
NVQ Level 3 in Care
Completion of the National Care Certificate or a willingness to work towards

Experience

Essential

Working with patients requiring one to one supervision and care
Able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of effective customer care
Good basic hygiene skills (e.g. food handling, hand washing)

Desirable

Previous experience of working within mental health care environment/NHS
Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Experience of working with the public
