Job summary
Applications are invited for the position of a full time Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon to work in the established Breast, Endocrine, Skin and Sarcoma Unit at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) NHS Foundation Trust, the product of recent merger between Poole, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals. The appointee will be required to deliver a comprehensive specialist breast and endocrine surgical service across both hospital sites.
This is an established full time post which has become vacant due to retirement and attracts 10 Programmed Activities per week. The successful candidate will work within a team of 7 dual specialty surgeons. UHD is the designated Cancer Centre for Dorset and hosts the Dorset Breast Screening Service. The breast unit provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic breast services and treats over 700 new breast cancers per year. The endocrine unit is the regional centre for parathyroid surgery, currently undertaking about 100 parathyroid cases per year. Thyroid cases number about 70 per year with a further 50 undertaken by ENT. There is a well-established, regional Thyroid and Endocrine MDT
