Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and computer literate ward clerk, who willbe part of a hardworking and efficient team. He needs to beable to work independently and also with a small group of ward clerks, and assist in answering questions and problem solving, communicating with staff, patients and relatives and maintaining ward paperwork in order.

Base Location: Poole

Interview Date: TBC

Main duties of the job

To ensure open communication with staff, patients and relatives.

To maintain ward safety by ordering materials, paperwork, organising patients notes, keeping up to date E-camis and admitting and discharging patient as needed.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated ( date unknown at present)when this role and base of work will relocate to Bournemouthsite. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the post holder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

- Welcome patients and visitors to the ward, answering appropriate questions and providing any relevant information in a sensitive manner, referring to qualified members of the team as necessary.

- Undertake clerical and administrative duties on behalf of the ward.

- Liaise with individual team members and other departments as required, in a manner that will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the ward.

- To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment.

- To deliver post to patients.

- To open and sort incoming mail and distribute to relevant personnel for action.
