Job summary

The successful candidate willwork autonomously in the community. In addition to an excellent Assertive Outreach Alcohol Worker peer support forum, you will also receive quality supervision and support from the lead addiction nurse of the service.

The aim of this innovative approach to patient care is to provide intensive support to those patients who frequently attend hospital as a consequence of their problematic use of alcohol, with the goal of reducing emergency department admissions and non-planned admissions.

In addition to supporting people with their use of alcohol the successful candidate will focus on helping with non-medical factors including, housing instability, social isolation, loneliness, deprivation, as well as poor physical and mental health. Interventions will be determined by the addiction recovery and social re-integration needs of individual patients and their carers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual eager for a challenge and keen to expand their skills and knowledge in this specialist field. UHD recognises the need for a quality patient focused service so training will be provided for the right candidate.
