Job summary

The Breast prosthetic fitter will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary teamin caring for the physical social and psychological needs of patients diagnosedwith breast cancer.The post holder will work independently providing women with breast prosthesisand specialist bras post-surgery and those who need replacement in the future.

Base Location: Bournemouth & Poole

Main duties of the job

o Expert fitter of breast prosthesis, swim prosthesis, swimwear and prosthetic nipples in ladiesfollowing cancer treatment.o Provide dedicated and knowledgeable support to cancer patients post surgery.o Demonstrate a broad knowledge of treatments offered within breast cancer.o Organize own workload and manage clinics.o Assist with documentation for Peer Review and annual reports.o Maintain stock levels and weekly ordering of prosthesis and bra's.o Participate in obtaining and collating patient satisfaction questionnaires and Audit.o Communicate directly with patients, relatives and carers demonstrating empathy, understanding,and respect. Information discussed and received will often require tact or persuasive skills toensure.o Ensure accurate and timely documentation on computer systems i.e. Somerset Data base.

o Respond to telephone queries and signpost to appropriate support groups.o Give advice re suitable clothing swimwear and different range of prosthesis.o Give patients time and opportunity to discuss any feelings they may have about the change in their body image

Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
