Do you have the skills to join our bank phlebotomy service?
UHD Phlebotomy service offers blood tests to patients at Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch Hospitals for both inpatients and outpatients.
Do you have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills? Will you be able to work within a team and under your own initiative in this busy service?
This role is physically demanding, requiring you to have great attention to detail and accuracy when performing venepuncture.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out duties / responsibilities in accordance with the Trust and Directorate Policies, Protocols including Health and Safety Policies.
- To greet patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- To check the relevant details of patients requiring blood tests.Obtain by venepuncture or capillary sampling the correct blood specimens.
- Ensure samples are correctly labelled, put into the correct containers and otherwise properly treated so as to be suitable for the analyses requested.
- The post holder must be willing to provide cover for other members of the team as and when required.
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings working groups and focus groups as appropriate and ensure read minutes where appropriate.
- Understand and work to ensure equality of opportunity and respect for diverse cultures and lifestyles.
- Support and empathise with clients, carers and families in time of need.
