Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic applicant to join a dedicated team in a modern department, providing a high-quality service.
Ideally the applicant should have completed their specialist portfolio in Cellular Pathology or be able to demonstrate they are close to completion.
We will consider Biomedical Scientists from other areas of Pathology who are in the process of completing their Specialist Portfolio but if successful they must be willing to complete the Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology
The successful candidate will have at least two years post registration experience and be highly motivated and organised, possess excellent interpersonal skills and show both analytical and creative potential.

Main duties of the job
Duties will include laboratory, clinic, and quality management tasks which may be of a complex nature. The applicant should be able to demonstrate familiarity assisting with carrying out audits and revising documents.
In addition, the post holder will be expected to supervise and train Medical Laboratory Assistants, Associate Practitioners and Trainee Biomedical Scientists and participate in BMS led dissection.
Cellular Pathology has a high quality UKAS accreditation record and it is an approved laboratory for Registration and Specialist training by the IBMS. The department will soon be moving to a new purpose-built laboratory facility and is currently implementing advanced digital and computational pathology systems as part of a pan-Dorset service improvement program; we would expect any suitable candidate to take an active role in this ongoing project.
