Respiratory Consultant Physicians
Medical Specialties Director, Medical Care Group (across both RBH and PH sites)
We are seeking to appoint two new Respiratory Consultant Physicians with general medicine accreditation. The appointment is to Respiratory Team with an expectation that the successful candidates will work at both Poole and Bournemouth sites. The posts are for 10 PAs however less than full-time work can be negotiated as can working 10 PAs across four days. The posts will contain general respiratory medical care however any specialist interests can be accommodated.
The successful applicants will join us at an exciting time of great change and opportunity. The merged Respiratory Team across the both sites comprises 12 Respiratory Consultants who work closely with a team of Respiratory Physiologists, Lung Care Specialist Nurses, TB Specialists and the Dorset Adult Integrated Respiratory Service (DAIRS) Team. The UHD model for the future is that all inpatient care will be delivered at the Bournemouth site and all planned/elective care to be delivered at the Poole site from late 2024/early 2025. Joining us at this time gives the applicant the unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the future service of UHD Respiratory Medicine including the building of new respiratory inpatient wards, the building and development of a dedicated Respiratory Support/High Care Unit and a specialist Respiratory on-call.

- MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification
- SCE in respiratory medicine
- GMC Registration
Desirable
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for both Respiratory and General Internal Medicine via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
Experiance
Essential
- Satisfactory training in and General Internal Medicine
- Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Ability and Knowledge
Essential
- Wide knowledge of Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. Able to give expert opinion
Clinical Skills and Technical Skills

- Independent Bronchoscopy and pleural skills including ultrasound
