Junior Clinical Fellow posts in ED UHD, Poole Hospital site
This is an exciting opportunity for a junior doctor working at the level of Junior Clinical Fellow, to gain experience or more experience in Emergency Medicine.
Poole Hospital is the Trauma Unit for East Dorset so we see both intermediate and Major Trauma in addition to all the usual specialities on site for a District general Hospital. Interventional cardiology and Urology and Vascular Surgery are on the UHD Bournemouth site and we have well established clinical pathways
The postholder will join the ED team, consisting of 14 ED Consultants, 6- 8 Registrars, 24 SHO grade Drs and 15 Advanced nurse practitioners. The work is on a 12 week rolling rota which includes day, evening and night shifts and there will always be a 24 hour senior doctor presence.
Each postholder will have an educational supervisor and be provided with career advice as well as a study leave budget.
There is formal dedicated Junior Clinical Fellow teaching every Tuesday afternoon which also includes simulation sessions and we encourage you to be involved in a quality improvement project.
Main duties of the job
To see new pts presenting to Poole ED
To provide onward referral of patients needing admission
To seek appropriate advice from senior clinicians within ED or other speciality teams as
appropriate
To adhere to the provided workforce rota which involves 10 hour shifts
To be guided by senior ED clinicians in providing patient care
To engage in a patient safety project or audit
To be amenable to flexibly covering colleagues' unexpected/unscheduled absences
To take part in the active weekly Junior Clinical Fellow teaching
To support and supervise medical students
To accommodate the shadowing of those doing work experience placements
