Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Deliver school-age neurodevelopmental assessments and meet the current backlog, including participating in referral triage and SENCo support.
  • Liaising with other agencies, including NHS Dorset.
  • Hold responsibility for a local school for children with moderate learning disabilities.

The successful candidate could support the safeguarding on-call rota, including the SARC and child death on a negotiable basis, with a pro-rata reduction in clinic activity, or support the Looked After Children service, in the Named Doctor or Designated Doctor role and performing Initial Health Assessments.

This is a general community paediatric post, with some work in a community clinic, and some at the CDC at Poole Hospital. There are a number of Special Schools with a named Paediatrician working in our Team, and this post will include responsibility for one of these (Winchelsea). Initial consultant support will be offered for all these roles.
