Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) wishes to appoint three Consultant Radiologists with subspecialist interests in Abdominal Imaging, with expertise in GI, HPB and/or genitourinary radiology. The post-holders will be predominantly based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site although there may be the requirement or opportunity for some sessions at Poole Hospital. The post-holders will be part of the on-call arrangements for general diagnostic radiology and contribute to our subspecialist abdominal imaging service. UHD provides HPB, GI and GU cancer services to Dorset, the New Forest and south Wiltshire regions. UHD is a regional referral centre for benign and malignant UGI surgery, urological and gynaecological surgery, interventional endoscopy and interventional oncology. There are large benign urological, pelvic floor and IBD practices, each with regular MDTs.

This is an exciting time to join #TeamUHD, with excellent opportunities for professional development at our large and dynamic NHS Trust. For further details please see the Supporting Documents.

Main duties of the job

Post-holders will be expected to provide general inpatient CT and emergency MRI both in normal working hours and on call. Outpatient US, CT and MRI commitments will be according to subspecialty interest and expertise. Job planned time to prepare and participate in MDTs will be provided. Other commitments could include diagnostic fluoroscopy and an opportunity to perform US and CT guided procedures, if desired. The post-holders will participate in regular cancer MDTs and benign imaging meetings according to interest and expertise and subject to job planning. We supports a growing number of Specialty Trainees on rotation in the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme, and it is anticipated post-holders will contribute to education and training within the Department.
