Job summary

Are you a Diabetes Dietitian looking for an exciting development opportunity?

We are recruiting a permanent part time band 7 Specialist Diabetes Dietitian to join our innovative team of Dietitians and work with our team to support diabetes technology clinics and with our young persons transition service.

The diabetes dietetic team is very friendly and supportive and consists of 6 dietitians across the 2 secondary care sites who provide a range of services for people predominantly with Type 1 diabetes in the local Dorset and Hampshire populations. We work very closely with the entire diabetes MDT, including consultants, diabetes specialist nurses, podiatrists, psychologists, ward and support staff.

We have an established insulin pump/sensor service, as well as the BERTIE structured diabetes education programme. We deliver care to all patients with type 1 diabetes including young adults, antenatal diabetes and patients with diabetes requiring either foot or renal care and support the inpatient dietetic and diabetes nursing teams. We prioritise patient education, the opportunity to access latest diabetes technologies and psychological support.

We are looking for a motivated Dietitian, with excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Base Location: Poole and Bournemouth Hospital sites

Main duties of the job

A substantial part of the role will be supporting within the young persons service with regards to both the dietary management of diabetes and the use of diabetes technologies, such as insulin pumps and glucose monitoring systems.

There will be the opportunity to work and gain experience in antenatal clinics, as well as structured education for Type 1 diabetes and people using insulin pump technologies.

You will be invited to regular professional update meetings across the whole team. In addition we are closely connected with our colleagues across the whole of Dorset and run a Dorset wide education and networking event twice yearly.

You will have the opportunity to work on audit and also be involved in student training.

The service will be delivered mainly in a hospital outpatient setting across the 2 sites.
