Job Title: Consultant Medical and / or Clinical Oncologists : Up to three posts
GRADE: Consultant
Accountable to: Clinical Director Cancer Services
Overview/Introduction
These new posts are key to the continued development and delivery of cancer services to the population of Dorset. They have been funded as additional posts to support provision of Cancer Care for the people of Dorset in recognition of an increasing prevalence of cancer and requirements for supervision for ever increasing treatment systemic anti cancer and radiotherapy treatment options.
The posts represent an expansion of our existing Consultant numbers joining a fully staffed department of 21 permanent Consultant and Specialist Doctor Oncologists.
There are three posts with a maximum of 10 Pas and potential for less than full time or compressed week working.
The Cancer Care Directorate provides a high degree of specialisation with multi-disciplinary clinics for all the major cancers.
Three geographic sites, Poole, Bournemouth and Dorchester provide outpatient services, day units and acute oncology services each with a dedicated oncology pharmacy incorporating an aseptic unit.
Currently, in-patient and the main radiotherapy facilities for Oncology reside at Poole Hospital although over the next 5 years, inpatient services will move to the main emergency hospital site in Bournemouth.
