University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust are looking to welcome a Knowledge & Evidence Support Technician into the Knowledge and Library Services.
This full-time role is embedded in our two on-site libraries across Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals and will give you an excellent opportunity to start a professional librarianship career.
As a member of the department, you will ensure that all NHS employees, students on placement and other applicable service users across Dorset have access to and use research, evidence and organisational knowledge to make informed decisions leading to improved healthcare outcomes.
This is a full-time position with flexible hours available for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
The role will contribute to the delivery of Knowledge and Library Services, by providing paraprofessional support across the service.
This includes literature search support (administrative tasks, as well basic literature searching if required), library facilities and resource training for service users (such as database and electronic resources access and undertaking basic literature searches) and assisting with marketing activities.
The post holder will also be expected to support enquiry and document supply services when needed.
The post holder will be expected to have a degree of autonomy with activities as this is a paraprofessional post, and they will manage their own day to day priorities and workload with support from their line manager.

The Knowledge and Library Service is a large, supportive team providing services across Dorset.
As part of the wider Education and Training Team, there are two physical library spaces across UHD:
- Poole Hospital
- Royal Bournemouth Hospital
Our outreach programmes also expand to events and visiting library services in public libraries across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and in our satellite hospital in Christchurch.
The Knowledge and Library Services Team is well established and encourages life-long learning.
Discussions can be had with successful candidates to undertake an Level 3 Library, information and archive services assistant Apprenticeship (if this is not already being undertaken or already completed), to support your development into Librarianship.
