Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical fellow (middle grade) to join our Vascular Surgery Department at Bournemouth's University Hospitals Dorset. This post is due to commence in October 2023 for 1 year fixed term contract initially, but with scope to extend longer term.

The post is based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and is suitable for candidates who ideally will already have 12 months or more experience at middle grade level in general/vascular surgery, or at least 2 years of core surgical (equivalent to SHO level) experience, who would like to build on their experience of vascular and emergency surgery.

The post will be integrated into the elective and emergency workload of the vascular department. The successful candidates will work alongside the Consultants, CST, FY1/2, nurse practitioners in the vascular team and the Middle Grade team, covering emergencies for pan-surgical specialities.

The successful candidates will have full support from their teams and supervisors so they can gain the appropriate experience and knowledge in elective and emergency surgery and progress into the next step of their career. This will include access to clinics, theatre, MDT, interventional radiology & ward rounds in both elective and emergency settings. The educational needs will be discussed and adjusted at the beginning of the placement to meet the post takers' training needs- including examinations, courses, conferences and longer term scope for CESR if desired.
