Job summary

The Corporate Operations directorate are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Deputy Head of Corporate Cancer Services to work closely with the triumvirate and to deputise for the Head of Corporate Cancer Services.

This is an exciting new role for University Hospitals Dorset, involving system working to improve the cancer services across the Trust and to be heavily involved in the Dorset Cancer Recovery Programme.

The main duties of this role are:

  • to oversee the daily operational functions, manage performance and improve service delivery for the directorate
  • to support the team infrastructure across the sites to deliver efficiencies and improvements to cancer waiting times performance, ensuring all team roles and responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • to work strategically with system partners to implement new transformation programmes in line with the regional and national plans for cancer.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual experienced in managing teams and leading service delivery improvement. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility with colleagues. Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work with the relevant Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads, General Managers, Operational Managers, Heads of Service and Matrons, to ensure the provision of high quality patient care and the efficient use of resources.
  • To be managerially responsible for a defined portfolio of services within the Directorate.
  • To support the daily operational delivery of the Directorate.
  • To deputise for the Head of Cancer Services at local, regional and national level.

  • Able to influence decision making and challenge at a senior level.
