Job summary

Ward 14 takes admissions straight from admitting area's for endocrine, gastro, respiratory, general medical, and older persons medicine. As patients admitted to Ward 14 come from a variety of medical backgrounds, Ward 14 primarily manage the care for our endocrine patients, though patients from other specialities are admitted to the ward - gastro, respiratory and older persons medicine.

We work closely as an MDT with Therapists, Doctors, Nursing staff and Pharmacy and seek to involve patients, as well as their relatives, in their care as much as possible.

A team that hold focus on teamwork and development, we have many cases of staff career development. We have a Practice Educator linked to Ward 14 to offer bespoke training and pastoral care for new staff.

Technical Skills/Competencies

Essential

  • Basic IT skills
  • Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
  • Non-IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products

  • Venepuncture and cannulation
  • ECG recording
  • Male Catheterisation

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies
