Job summary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Desktop technician to join the IT Services Desktop support team based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, servicing the IT Hardware and software needs of circa 9,000 staff across multiple clinical and non-clinical disciplines.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a large-scale busy IT environment which may require working in ward based, patient facing situations as well as inclusion in large and small scale projects and emerging healthcare technologies

The role may sometimes require multi-site attendance at one of UHD's many major and satellite sites including Poole Hospital, Christchurch Hospital and several clinical and administrative satellite locations .

In addition, participation in an out-of-hours on call rota for Desktop related escalations.

A full, clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle is not an essential requirement for this role, but is desirable.

  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office packages is required for assistance with escalated user requests or queries.
  • Be able to show forward thinking and initiative when undertaking difficult problems and situations.
  • To perform Root Cause Analysis on the collated information in order to get to the root cause of a problem

  • To have a positive attitude towards all aspects of the modern IT technologies.
