Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Palliative care for an exciting new opportunity within our Acute Therapy Team . If you are committed to providing a high quality therapy service for patients and keen to be proactive in service delivery, then this is the post for you.
You will be working as part of a well-established collaborative therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Staff to provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions for patients with palliative therapy needs. You will work across the medical, surgical, critical care and oncology pathways, assessing patients' palliative therapy needs, complex case management and facilitating safe meaningful discharges from the acute hospital setting.
This post provides an ideal opportunity for you to develop holistic palliative care skills within the acute setting. This may consist of but is not limited to cognitive and mental capacity assessments, complex moving and handling, provision of equipment and community assessments. Supervision of junior staff/students and will enable you to have a positive influence on patient care and service development. You will be supported by experienced Band 7 therapists across the pathway.

To be successful in this post, you will have a degree in Occupational Therapy and excellent organisational, communication and motivational skills.
