Pathology IT Systems Manager

This job is now closed

Job summary

We are looking for a suitably qualified & experienced individual to provide IT leadership across the 3 Pathology laboratories in Dorset. This is an incredibly exciting time to join the team as we continue the formation of our Dorset Network 'One Dorset Pathology' (ODP).

The three laboratories have just implemented a new laboratory information management system (CliniSys Winpath Enterprise) and are embarking on an equipment refresh under a Managed Equipment Service, which require multiple analyser interfaces. In addition the service will be reconfiguring to a Hub laboratory positioned at Bournemouth with 2 aligned extended essential service laboratories at Poole and Dorchester. All laboratories currently hold UKAS accreditation.

Main duties of the job

Highly motivated and appropriately experienced candidates are invited to apply to lead the IT function of ODP during this period of major transformation and modernisation. To succeed you will need to be an imaginative, forward thinking leader with good management skills. You will need to be able to manage the small Pathology IT Team whilst maintaining good lines of communication and promoting a strong commitment to the Pathology departments. Knowledge and awareness of laboratory processes is essential.

The role includes Network wide responsibility for IT in ODP (Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Dorset County Hospital, and Poole Hospital). It will be essential to build relationships with other ICT services within the Trusts we serve, as well as system providers, and pathology service users. There is a dedicated Pathology IT department which you will lead, and you will be instrumental in the future development of the IT strategy for the ODP Network as the organisation grows and evolves.

About us

This is a really exciting time to join UHD! We are a three site acute trust with 'university hospital' status, due to our partnership with Bournemouth University, delivering highly regarded health services to the county of Dorset, and beyond. We employ some 10,000 staff, with an ambitious £250m estates programme on the way to delivering state-of-the-art facilities to meet the current and future healthcare needs of the populations we serve.

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with over seven miles of sandy beaches, you'll find inspirational opportunities to achieve your perfect work/life balance. With the New Forest and the Purbecks on our doorstep, we're also less than three hours from London by road or train. The thriving towns of Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch give way to idyllic villages and unspoilt landscapes just minutes from our hospitals.

Please note:

Staff recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all our Trust locations when service demands require it.

This advert may be closed early if sufficient applications are received.

COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and our patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings. Whilst COVID-19 vaccination is not a condition of employment we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated.
