Job summary

We currently have a vacancy for PWP trainee to work in the Steps 2 Wellbeing Team in the Rural localities of Weymouth & Portland. This is an excellent opportunity for people with the appropriate skills to join a highly motivated and committed team.

Steps 2 Wellbeing is a busy, dynamic and progressive service with a friendly and supportive team of qualified clinicians and staff in training.

The role itself is both demanding and rewarding; providing psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems in primary care. We are looking for people with enthusiasm and passion to join our service. Good administrative, time management and communication skills are also essential. Experience of working within mental health, the NHS service or similar organisation is highly desirable.

Main duties of the job

You would undertake academic training, provided and accredited by University of Exeter.Time would be split between University study and on-job training. The on-job training would include learning about CBT-based self-management for clients suffering from mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, using a stepped-care approach. All trainees will receive intensive supervision and support in their workplace as an integral element of their training.

The post is a full time position, part time applications cannot be considered due to University commitments.

We will be interviewing in December 2025.

  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at level 5
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above or grade 4 and above or functional skills

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, counselling or a psychological therapy
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
