Healthcare Support Worker

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Health Care Assistant to work in our busy MIU and UTC.

You will be working day to day with a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, caring for patients with a range of minor injuries or ailments who are booked in via 111 and other health care professionals or self present to the Unit. Under supervision of the practitioners you will be required to manage your own clinical workload and activities delegated to you. You must be computer literate. Experience of System 1 would be an advantage but full training will be given. The post is interesting and varied in our urgent care service and would suit a person already working in a healthcare environment.

Main duties of the job

To support the Registered Clinical Staff in providing high quality individualised care to a clearly defined group of patients/clients, relatives and carers who attend the Urgent Treatment Centre and MIU.

To manage own workload along a ledger system delivering care in line with the requirements of the job description. Including wound management, care of burns, patient observations, assist with clinical investigations, minor injury care- pop application, splints and slings.

To be dynamic and flexible in responding to the needs of the service, resource management.

To deliver high quality, best practice, evidence based care to patients of all ages.
