Job summary
Are you innovative and enthusiastic? Dorset CAMHS are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker to join their Community CAMHS team in Dorchester and Weymouth.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide practical help and support and guidance to children,young people and their families receiving treatment for their mental health difficulties within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. As a result, promoting their recovery in their community environment. You will work alongside and closely within the multi-disciplinary team providing a high quality of care ensuring high standards of clinical practice when working with all young people and their families/carers.

This is a full time split post of 37.5 hours across West & Weymouth and Portland CAMHS, as this is a community based role you will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car.

Main duties of the job
We are proud to be part of the wider CAMH service in Dorset and all it has achieved in recent years, with its progress and developments being demonstrable. Currently our CAMHS community services are rated Good and our CAMHS inpatient unit is rated as Outstanding. We have been fast tracked by NHSE to deliver New Care Models providing a closer to home crisis home treatment service. We are also part of the national trailblazer to deliver Mental Health Support Teams in schools across 3 pilot sites in Dorset. In addition, NHSE have commissioned Dorset Healthcare to build a new state of the art 8 bed PICU.
We continue to work hard on refining and developing the service to better meet the needs of our young people and their families. We are also working closely with our local commissioners to develop new and innovative services including a CAMHS retreat to support the emotional health and wellbeing of young people across Dorset.
We currently provide the following CAMHS services across Dorset:
- 6 Community teams
- 10 Bed adolescent inpatient unit
- Dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison services within 3 acute hospitals -Out of Hours crisis service
- Discovery college
- Peer specialists working within our community and inpatient teams
