Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available within Dorset HealthCare. We are looking for 2 full time people (part time considered) with excellent computer and communication skills to work within the Dorset Bladder and Bowel Service as Secretaries. Supervised by the Team Lead.

Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post are:

Answering the telephone and dealing with patient queries, passing messages onto clinician's, taking referrals over the phone, booking appointments, appointment letters, scanning documents, checking emails and signposting accordingly.

Using the clinical computer systems mainly SystmOne and Essity Delivery Service, (our pad provision service)to ensure incoming queries are handled quickly and effectively - this will include dealing with; Registering patients to the service, appointments, clinic letters and discharges, documentation requests, room bookings, ordering stock, carrying out audits etc

  • Audio typing & minute taking skills Strong verbal communication skills requiring tact and diplomacy . Methodical & Organisational skills Advanced keyboard/touch typing skills

Job specific experience

Essential

  • Previous experience with dealing directly with patients / families or carers or previous experience of working within a customer focused environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Community & Specialist Nursing services within DHUFT

Information Technology

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of using all Microsoft Office applications to RSA lll or equivalent standard
  • Knowledge of System 1 patient database

Personal qualities/attributes

  • Ability to priorities own workload. Ability to work as part of team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Ability to use own initiative within sphere of responsibility

Business travel
