We currently looking for a Ward Manager for our Mental Health Rehab Unit in Dorchester.

The Glendinning Unit is a 9 bedded, mixed gender community rehab unit set on the Maiden Castle site within walking distance to the town centre . The unit supports people who have chronic & disabling mental health problems that may be treatment resistant, often providing a stepping stone for those who have previously spent long periods in hospital.

The inpatient team work closely with our Community Rehab Teams to provide a seamless transition from inpatient into the community, ensuring the patient is supported through their recovery journey. Staff work hard to facilitate further recovery, that can include supporting self-medication, gaining skills for more independent living such as cooking, shopping, budgeting & supporting individuals to access community activities.

This role requires a registered professional who is motivated, driven and passionate about developing & leading an outstanding service for the individuals we serve.

Main duties of the job

Day-to-day management and leadership of a clinical team

Be responsible for the successful and effective partnership working with inpatient staff and community staff.

Be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience.

Contribute to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives to meet the needs of local people

To ensure the delivery of up to date evidence based practice.

Professional registration and qualifications

Essential

  • Must be a registered Practitioner ie registered mental health nurse, Occupational Therapist or other Allied Health Professional, Social Work)
  • Must have professional UK registration ie NMC, HCPC
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of highly developed specialist knowledge and experience
  • Experience of Teaching and Assessing In Clinical Practice

Experience

Essential

  • 12months minimum experience within a mental health role at band 6 or similar, or demonstrate transferable experience
  • Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in clinical assessment, treatment and care for people's mental health
  • A robust understanding of the function of mental health rehabilitation
  • Demonstrable knowledge of legislation relevant to area of practice
  • Evidence of proactive involvement in supervision and development of members of the multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience in a leadership role
