Job summary

Are you a registered mental health nurse who is looking to develop within your career? Our Eating Disorder Service are looking for a Ward Manager. We have recently moved into a state of the art , purpose-built new building in the grounds of St Ann's Hospital, Poole where we have expanded from 6 beds to 10. The inpatient unit is open 24/7 365 days of the year.

As a Ward Manager you will have personal responsibility for the provision and management of high-quality nursing care and treatment of patients in the Eating Disorder Inpatient Unit and Day Programme in conjunction with other professions through the hospitals agreed multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment/care programmes.

You will be continually responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and ensure that adequate 24-hour staffing cover is maintained for patient care in the ward. You will ensure that dignity for patients and good communication with relatives and other visitors is maintained.

We promote learning and development. We provide an initial induction, inhouse and other training opportunities.

This is a full-time post, Monday to Friday 9-5, however requires an element of flexibility and this is based at Kimmeridge Court, St Ann's Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To be continually responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community colleagues particularly in respect of admissions and discharges.

To inspire and demonstrate leadership qualities through clear visible management, working with others, demonstration of personal qualities, continuous service improvement, and setting direction.

To ensure and contribute to compliance assessments with the essential standards of quality and safety as set by the Trust and commissioners.

To work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting, holding self and all team members to account appropriately and demonstrating personal commitment to integrated leadership.
